Introduction

Learning Cycle Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) recognizes the importance of protecting personal information when providing the Learning Cycle service (hereinafter referred to as “the Service”). We comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as “the Personal Information Protection Act”) and handle and protect personal information appropriately in accordance with the following Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as “this Privacy Policy”).

1. Definition of Personal Information

In this Privacy Policy, “personal information” refers to information as defined in Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the Personal Information Protection Act, that is, information related to a living individual that can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, or other description (including information that can be easily cross-referenced with other information to identify a specific individual).

2. Purpose of Use of Personal Information

The Company will handle the personal information provided by customers carefully in accordance with this Privacy Policy and use it for the following purposes. Such personal information will not be used for any other purpose without the consent of the individual:

  1. To provide the Service
  2. To bill customers for the use of the Service
  3. To respond to inquiries and provide information related to the Service
  4. To provide information about the Company’s products and services
  5. To respond to and prevent actions that violate the terms of use of the Service
  6. To notify changes to the Company’s terms, policies, etc., related to the Service
  7. To improve, develop, provide, and advertise services based on user age, gender, interests, etc.
  8. To help improve existing services and develop new services
  9. To create statistical data processed into a format that does not identify individuals

3. Changes to the Purpose of Use of Personal Information

The Company may change the purpose of use of personal information within a reasonable scope deemed related, and if changes are made, customers will be notified or changes will be publicly announced.

4. Restrictions on the Use of Personal Information

The Company will not handle personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use without the customer’s consent, except as permitted by the Personal Information Protection Act and other laws and regulations. However, the following cases are exceptions:

  1. When required by law
  2. When necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the customer’s consent
  3. When particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound growth of children and it is difficult to obtain the customer’s consent
  4. When necessary to cooperate with a state institution, local public body, or their consigned parties in executing the affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the customer’s consent might impede the execution of those affairs

5. Proper Acquisition of Personal Information

  1. The Company will acquire personal information through appropriate and fair means and will not acquire it through false or other unjust methods against the customer’s will.
  2. On websites linked to advertisements on the Service, personal information may be required to be entered or automatically collected, but this Privacy Policy does not apply to such websites.
  3. If the Company acquires personal information by methods other than the use of the Service, the purpose of use will be notified or publicly announced in advance.

6. Safety Management of Personal Information

  1. The Company will supervise its employees as necessary and appropriate to manage the safety of personal information against risks such as loss, theft, destruction, falsification, and leakage. In case of an accident, corrective measures will be implemented promptly.
  2. If the Company entrusts the handling of personal information in whole or in part, it will conclude a confidentiality agreement with the entrusted party in advance in accordance with this Privacy Policy and supervise the entrusted party as necessary and appropriate to ensure the safety and management of personal information.

7. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Company will not provide personal information to third parties without prior consent from the customer, except as permitted by the Personal Information Protection Act and other laws and regulations. However, the following cases are not considered provisions to third parties:

  1. When the Company entrusts the handling of personal information in whole or in part within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
  2. When personal information is provided in connection with business succession due to mergers or other reasons
  3. When personal information is shared in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act
  4. When statistical data processed in a way that individuals cannot be identified is disclosed
  5. When personal information is deposited with the Company’s payment system companies, credit companies, and banks to bill customers for using the Service

8. Disclosure of Personal Information

When requested by a customer for disclosure of personal information based on the Personal Information Protection Act, the Company will confirm that the request is from the customer and disclose it promptly (if the personal information does not exist, the customer will be notified). However, if the Company is not obliged to disclose under the Personal Information Protection Act and other laws and regulations, this does not apply. A fee of 1,000 yen per case will be charged for the disclosure of personal information.

9. Correction of Personal Information

When a customer requests correction, addition, or deletion (hereinafter referred to as “correction”) of personal information based on the Personal Information Protection Act, claiming that the personal information is not true, the Company will confirm that the request is from the customer, conduct necessary investigations without delay within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use, and based on the results, correct the personal information and notify the customer (if a decision is made not to make corrections, the customer will be notified). However, if the Company is not obliged to make corrections under the Personal Information Protection Act and other laws and regulations, this does not apply.

10. Suspension of Use of Personal Information

When a customer requests suspension or deletion (hereinafter referred to as “suspension of use”) of personal information based on the Personal Information Protection Act, claiming that the personal information is handled beyond the scope of the announced purpose of use or acquired by false or other unjust means, if the request is found to have a reason, the Company will confirm that the request is from the customer, suspend the use of personal information promptly and notify the customer. However, if the Company is not obliged to suspend the use under the Personal Information Protection Act and other laws and regulations, this does not apply.

11. Use of Cookies and Other Technologies

The Company may use cookies and similar technologies in the Service. These technologies help the Company understand the usage status of the Service and contribute to improving the Service. Customers can disable cookies by changing their browser settings. However, disabling cookies may make some features of the Service unavailable. A “cookie” is a system that stores the usage history and input contents exchanged between the browser and the server as a file on the customer’s computer when using a web page. By using cookie information, the page operator can change the display for each customer the next time they access the same page. If the customer allows cookies to be sent and received in the browser settings, the website can obtain cookies from the customer’s browser. To protect privacy, the customer’s browser sends only cookies sent and received by the server of the website being accessed.

12. Acquisition and Use of Customer Activity Information

  1. In the Service, advertisements delivered by third parties may be displayed, and related to this, such third parties may acquire and use the cookie information, etc., of users using the Service.
  2. Cookie information acquired by such third parties is handled in accordance with the privacy policies of those third parties.
  3. Customers can stop the use of cookie information for advertisement delivery by third parties by accessing the opt-out page provided on the third party’s website.
  4. Customers can select settings related to sending and receiving cookies from options such as “allow all cookies,” “reject all cookies,” or “notify the user when a cookie is received.” Settings methods vary by browser. Please check the “Help” menu of your browser for cookie settings.
  5. If all cookies are rejected, please note that you may be restricted from using various services on the internet, such as services requiring authentication.

  1. When the customer themselves reveals personal information using the functions of the Service or other means
  2. When the customer can be identified from information entered into the Service

15. Continuous Improvement

The Company will review the operational status regarding the handling of personal information as appropriate and strive for continuous improvement. This Privacy Policy may be revised as necessary, and changes will be announced on this site. The Company can change this Privacy Policy without prior consent from customers, and customers shall be deemed to have agreed to the changes.
